Good news: behind its image of a faraway, expensive and complicated destination hides a trip that's far more accessible than you'd think. With the right advice (when to go, how to gear up, where to see the auroras, how to manage the budget), your Far North dream can quickly become reality.
Planning your trip to Lapland has never been as easy as with our E-Book, and we're here to prove it! ❄️

So you can travel and enjoy it 100 %, without the headache!
First of all, Lapland is a huge region: it stretches across 4 countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia), beyond the Arctic Circle. As a result, you can quickly feel overwhelmed — you have to make choices and know where to go. And that's exactly where a guide changes everything!
Simon and I have travelled to Finnish Lapland 3 times (in 2022, 2025 and 2026), in autumn and in winter. And while we love this region more than anything, we also know just how long and intimidating it can be to organise a trip to the Far North.
When should you go to maximise your chances of seeing the auroras? How do you dress so you don't freeze? Can you drive (or take a camper van) on snow and ice? Where should you sleep? Which activities are really worth it? And how do you avoid blowing your budget?
So many questions we had to answer ourselves — by trawling through dozens of websites and blogs, testing things on the ground, and noting down everything we liked (or liked less). Between the research and the trips, it's fair to say we know our subject!
So to take a weight off your shoulders, answer your questions and save you from losing as much time as we did (time you probably don't have), we've gathered it all into a comprehensive guide of over 150 pages, packed with concrete advice, to support you at every step.

We've put together everything you need to plan your trip with peace of mind:

We're a long way from the classic 500-page travel guides, written in tiny print, overloaded with information and with too few photos. Here, we decided to compile the essentials and nothing more, so we don't drown you in information — while adding plenty of photos to help you picture it and make you want to go.
This E-Book is full of recommendations based on what we experienced, discovered, tested and loved (or not) on the ground, across our 3 trips. It's not just a compilation of info gleaned from Google.
It's a guide by travellers, for travellers, with a friendly, no-nonsense tone (the opposite of the sometimes very "textbook" or cold guides), to help you organise your trip as well as possible.
We won't lie: it'll also save you real time on planning, help you avoid hassles, and above all let you make the most of it, worry-free, once you're there — for a dream trip!
As for the format, the digital guide was designed for mobile use (computer, tablet, phone), optimised for screens (so no A4 pages where you have to zoom in and out to read).
We wanted it very visual, with images for each place, and above all interactive, with links between pages, to each place's Google Maps listing, to booking sites, a clickable checklist, etc.
The E-Book is also downloadable and viewable offline, with printable sheets if you prefer paper on the go.
This E-Book is for all kinds of travellers: solo, with friends, as a family, as a couple, or seasoned adventurers. Whether you dream of a camper-van road trip or a comfier stay in hotels and glass igloos.
In short, for anyone who doesn't know where to start and who wants to:
If this E-Book is for you, here's where it happens:

The guide covers the heart of Finnish Lapland: Rovaniemi, Levi, Kuusamo, Inari, Saariselkä and their surroundings. It mainly focuses on the winter season (snow, auroras, Far North activities).
No one can guarantee you'll see the auroras (it's nature!), but Finnish Lapland is one of the best places in the world to observe them, and we give you all our tips in the guide to maximise your chances (period, time slots, spots, apps…). On our side, across our 3 trips, it was only on the last one that we got to see them — and we were super lucky, because we saw loads over 2 weeks! The window to observe them runs from late autumn to early spring. We go into the nuances in the guide.
Yes, totally! We were often around -20 °C and we didn't suffer. The secret is the gear! Once you're well dressed (we explain everything in the guide, of course, with a checklist so you don't forget anything), Lapland's dry cold is very bearable. It's even a family destination, to give you an idea. The trickiest thing to handle is the wind — but again, it all comes down to the gear!
We won't lie, Lapland isn't cheap budget-wise (especially activities and accommodation), but it's so beautiful and magical. In our eyes, yes, it's clearly worth it! And you can easily save money by knowing the right tips and addresses. In the guide, we give you a realistic budget per itinerary, plenty of money-saving tips (groceries, camper van, where and how to book), and even discount codes (over €150 in possible savings) that can more than pay back the cost of the guide.
No problem there. In the guide, only one of the 4 itineraries is by camper van. The idea was to cover different travel styles as well as all budgets, so that as many of you as possible can experience this extraordinary trip (and find what suits you). Beyond the camper van, in the E-Book we also recommend some superb accommodation (charming hotels, cabins by a frozen lake, glass igloos to sleep under the auroras).
It's much less risky than you'd think! The roads are really well cleared of snow, wide and well suited — and above all they have studded tyres (their winter tyres), which grip snow and ice really well. In the E-Book we share all our tips for driving in winter so you feel confident behind the wheel.
Honestly, both! The E-Book gives you all the keys for a first stay, but also plenty of more remote spots that won't be possible to explore in a single trip. As the region is so big, it leaves the door open to come back and discover another part of Lapland. So the guide can serve you several times and let you experience several unique trips (whether it's your first or not).
Yes, it will be updated regularly and for free. Just keep the link received by email to access the latest version.
This E-Book is a digital product downloadable immediately after purchase (a link is sent to you by email), so we're sorry but we cannot accept any exchange or refund request after purchase.
Absolutely. You'll receive a link to a Drive folder, with the E-Book and its extra files, which you can either view directly online or download to consult offline.
Finnish Lapland really is a magical interlude! The dancing auroras, the silence of the snow, the huskies, the sauna after a day out in the cold… it's the stuff of dreams. But we won't lie, planning a trip in the depths of winter can quickly become a headache: when to go, how to gear up, where to sleep, how to see the auroras, what budget to plan without raiding your savings…
And that's exactly why we created this E-Book: to support you at every step, make your life easier and help you make the most of it, stress-free, before departure and once you're there. So, ready to experience the magic of the Far North? ❄️
